Lagos, Nigeria, 6 September, 2017: One of Nigeria’s leading power exhibition’s dedicated to the burgeoning African power industry opened in Lagos yesterday (5 September) at the Landmark Centre, and runs until Thursday (7 September).

Officially inaugurated by Mr Usman Gur Mohammed, Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), among other dignitaries, the exhibition is set to once again attract the entire power market value chain, from decision makers and business leaders to experts and trade professionals who will gather to deliberate the latest trends and progression within the country’s power sector.

Speaking at the official opening, Mr Usman Gur Mohammed said; “This exhibition plays a key role in promoting the latest products and solutions both locally and internationally, while putting the spotlight on issues such as solar power and energy efficiency. Although we are making good progress toward a more stable power market, such as the recent announcement of the Building Energy Efficiency Code (BEEC), we are still a way to go. It is products such as this that gives us the opportunity to meet in one place and discuss where to go next.''

The 2017 edition is its largest to date and has brought together over 100 exhibitors from 11 countries, offering visitors a first look of some of the latest products available on the market covering power generation, solar and transmission & distribution. Turkey, China and India have also opted to host country pavilions showcasing the latest solutions from their respective markets.

This year’s Power Nigeria Agenda, which began yesterday and runs throughout the three-day exhibition, is free-to-attend and will bring Municipal, Disco, financial, manufacturing, and solar leaders together to discuss the nation’s electricity deficiencies and solutions with the greater electricity market.

Mr Usman Gur Mohammed delivered the keynote address which opened the conference, and set the tone for the day’s sessions which focused on ideas for reaching electricity customers across the country, and how best to mitigate financial risk across the T&D value chain. Day two of the conference will take a holistic look at the current state of Nigeria’s solar market.

“Although we are making good progress toward a more stable power market, such as the recent announcement of the Building Energy Efficiency Code (BEEC), we are still a way to go. It is products such as this that gives us the opportunity to meet in one place and discuss where to go next.” – Mr Usman Gur Mohammed, Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)

“We are always thankful of the support we get every year. Power Nigeria is currently witnessing its strongest ever growth phase, from exhibitor numbers and country pavilions through to onsite product launches from some of the industry’s largest suppliers. We have also recognised that solar is becoming an increasingly important industry sector and we have made sure that our content streams this year are set up to support discussions on how to grow solar in the country.” said Anita Mathews, Group Director – Industrial Group, Informa Exhibitions.

Some of the standout exhibitors this year include Cummins, Polycab, Gil Automations, Beta Transformator and Skipper Seil.
